WorkSafe ACT

WorkSafe ACT is the work health and safety regulator for the ACT and works to ensure all workers remain safe, healthy and well through compliance and enforcement activities.
Everyone has the right to a safe and healthy workplace. Every worker requires support to work to their capacity and stay safe.
Vulnerable workers are individuals at a higher risk of incurring an injury or illness at work due to certain circumstances or conditions at work.
Vulnerable workers include new or expectant mothers, those with a disability, young people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers, migrant workers, temporary workers, people new to the job, older workers, lone workers and home workers. Some workers will be vulnerable for a certain period of time such as workers new to the business or new and expectant mothers. Other workers may remain as vulnerable.
Young workers are those aged up to 25 and include apprentices, school-based apprentices, and trainees.
Young people are likely to be new to the workplace and so are at more risk of injury in the first six months of a job, as they may be less aware of risks.
Our Young Workers Strategy highlights our commitment to ensuring that every young worker in the Territory is safe at work, both physically and psychologically.
