The MSS Security Scholarship Program
The MSS Scholarships program is a training to employment pathway designed for people who want to build a career in the security industry.
Each year, the Program provides more than 500 training opportunities across Australia, helping new entrants gain the qualifications, experience and confidence needed to work as a Security Officer with MSS Security.
This program is ideal if you are:

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO WORK AS A SECURITY OFFICER
Minimum requirements for most sites:
All included within the MSS Scholarship Program
- Certificate II in Security Operations
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Security Licence (Including Crowd Control)
Some site may also require:
Additional learning opportunities for selected participants
- Batons and handcuffs certification
- Working with Vulnerable People Card
- White Card
- Responsible Service of Alcohol
Further learning:
- Certificate III in Security Operations
- Firearms Licence
With MSS, you will only ever be placed at sites where you meet the training and qualification requirements.
Can I join MSS Security if I am not an Australian Citizen?
Yes. Non-Australian Citizens can apply; however, due to client clearance requirements only a limited number of positions are available to non-citizens.
Is training paid for?
MSS Security provides free online training and on-the-job training. Any accreditation required through the Program is fully funded by MSS Security.
For training funded by MSS Security, including accredited and non-accredited courses, you may be asked to enter into a Return of Service Agreement. This simply outlines an agreed period of service with the company, or repayment of the cost of the training if you choose to leave earlier.
What are the expected timeframes?
We run regular intake dates for the Program. Depending on availability you could start your career in the industry within 2 weeks.
Once you have completed the course and submitted your security licence application, it takes approximately 2-4 weeks to be ready to work as a Security Officer. MSS Security will work with you on your initial site placements, but you can expect to start earning within a few short months.
What will I be paid as a Security Officer?
MSS Security employees are covered under the Security Services Industry Award 2020. The Award outlines the ordinary hourly rates in the Award. Furthermore, there are additional allowances and overtime pay, based on the shifts/hours you work.

Can I change my employment type?
Yes. Employees may move between full-time, part-time, and casual roles depending on business needs and approval. Many employees adjust their hours to balance work, study, or family commitments.
Can I transfer interstate?
Yes. MSS Security is a nationally based security company. If you are moving interstate and meet the relevant criteria, we can help you apply for a transfer.
