Floor Covering Institute of Australia (FCIA) and Soudens Floor Collective

The Floor Covering Institute of Australia (FCIA) is the industry body dedicated to supporting the growth and professionalism of the flooring sector across Australia. A key focus of FCIA is training and workforce development, ensuring the industry has skilled, qualified installers both now and into the future.
FCIA works closely with employers, apprentices, training organisations and industry partners to deliver the nationally recognised qualification, promote apprenticeships, and support ongoing skills development. Through initiatives such as industry training programs, school engagement, and partnerships like the Group Training Organisation (GTO), FCIA plays an important role in building a sustainable and capable workforce for the flooring industry.
Soudens Floor Collective is a proud family-run business, owned and operated by Brent, a third-generation flooring installer, alongside his wife Lewarna and their daughters.
The Souden family has been part of the flooring industry since 1953, with Brent learning his trade and passion for flooring from his father and grandfather in West Wyalong, NSW. Today, they continue that legacy, sharing their knowledge and experience with the next generation.
They are also passionate about working with the wider industry to lift the quality and standards of flooring through training and the employment of apprentices, helping to support and develop the future workforce.
