ACT Leave

We are an ACT Government authority established to administer portable long service leave schemes and ensure workers in covered industries in the ACT can access the valuable benefits of portable long service leave.

Portable long service leave safeguards employee entitlements for workers in industries who may not otherwise qualify for long service leave because they have not held long-term employment with the same employer, have had unpaid breaks in service, or been undertaking contract work. With access to portable long service leave, workers can continue to accrue a long service leave entitlement as they move from employer to employer within a covered industry, as well as take a continuous non-service break of up to four years before their entitlement accrual is affected.

Covered industries include building and construction, security, community sector, contract cleaning, and in 2025, the services industry.
