ACT Health – Office of the Chief Allied Health Officer

The Office of the Chief Allied Health Officer is a Branch of the ACT Health Directorate that informs, guides and advocates for the ACT allied health workforce. We provide evidence-based advice on local, national, and international issues relevant to the allied health workforce and manage allied health workforce initiatives.
The ACT Chief Allied Health Officer is the professional and strategic representative for allied health. The ACT Chief Allied Health Office works closely with colleagues from clinical areas, education providers, government, and non-government areas to align and promote education, research, and workforce needs. The Office supports sustainable, safe, high-quality health and wellbeing services.

Study Options:

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Academy in the ACT

Indigenous Allied Health Australia (IAHA) runs the National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health Academy program in the ACT.

IAHA aims to create opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students in Years 10, 11 and 12 through their culturally safe community program. They also help students find work placement opportunities in culturally supportive workplaces and organisations.

With the right foundations, students are supported to build a lasting career in allied health. The ASbA (Australian School based Apprenticeship) program supports students to complete a Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance, a great stepping stone to a career in health.
