ACT Human Rights Commission

Did you know that children and young people have rights, and that your voice matters?

The ACT Human Rights Commission works to protect the rights, wellbeing and safety of everyone living in the ACT. As part of the Commission, the Children and Young People Commissioner, Jodie Griffiths-Cook, has a special job: making sure children and young people are heard and taken seriously.

The Commissioner is independent from the government, which means she can focus on listening to children and young people and speaking up about the issues that matter most to you. Her work includes:

• Promoting and protecting the rights of children and young people.
• Listening to what children and young people think, feel and experience.
• Encouraging schools, services and organisations to hear young people’s views and take them seriously when making decisions.
• Providing advice to government and community organisations on how to improve services for children and young people.
