ACT Real Estate Traineeship

Traineeships combine work and training with an employer and structured training with a training provider like RETS. They include paid employment under an appropriate industrial arrangement, a Training Contract that is signed by both the employer and trainee and registered with Skills Canberra and a recognised qualification delivered by RETS.

A traineeship means you learn practical skills with an employer as well as formal learning with RETS and get a nationally recognised qualification you can use anywhere. You may not have much experience when you start a traineeship but will learn skills that will set you up for life.

Apprenticeships and traineeships are available to anyone of working age, and most can be done full-time or part-time. As a part of your traineeship, you’ll sign a training contract with your employer to work and learn under their supervision. Skills Canberra administers these contracts. Your contract also includes training through RETS.

RETS guides you through the course with a Training Plan, student support, learning resources and assessments. Training takes place on-the-job as you go about your day-to-day activities. RETS assesses you regularly using competency-based assessment – you are ‘Competent’ or ‘Not-Yet-Competent’ at completing a task. If you are Not-Yet-Competent, you will have the opportunity to be reassessed at a later date.
